Snakey Wake (1988)

This CD's secondary title is "Music performed by The Residents to honor Snakefinger August 24, 1987". This is a studio version of the music they played that evening at the wake they held for Philip Lithman. The first track is a simple, snappier version of the Hank Williams track from the "Stars And Hank" album (the last Residents album Snakefinger played on). "Lament" is one of the most beautiful and saddest songs they have come up with. "Depart" is evidence that many of the themes here are based on old English laments. This has to be the most important UWEB release.
