DISKOMO (1980)

Perhaps slightly perturbed by the rapturous critical reception recieved for the Eskimo album and demonstrating that they weren't taking themselves that seriously, The Residents released this 12″ single. On the A-side the themes from Eskimo are incorporated into a supposedly "disco" beat. I wouldn't say that the sound from a home organ rhythm box pumped up consitutes disco exactly but it sure does make you want to jump up and down. The flipside Goosebump, credited to The Residents and Snakefinger, is a collection of nursery rhymes originated on instruments from a Toy-R-Us store. The end result is pretty bizarre. I may have to go back a long way to remember, but I'm sure there weren't no injuns on old McDonald's farm.
