APHIDS IN THE HALL by SCHWUMP (1976)

Very rare and very odd. A one-off single with eccentric radio performer Schwump, that has never been re-released (and apparently never will be). I'd heard that musically it wasn't very Residential, but having got my hands on it recently I think the A-side is a little gem. Somehow it reminds me of their eighties work, very stripped down, and I think the vocals are a little Residential. "You're A Martian" is an old style crooner, with surreal lyrics, and the short and nasty "Home" sounds like something that could have been on "Fingerprince". We've heard very little from Schwump over the years, but bizarrely, in 1999 he returned with a neat little album called "Kick In The Butt".
